How To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind
In this post I will be showing you how to reprogram your subconscious mind.
By the time you are done reading this, you will have a clear understanding of what you need to do to start letting go of your old limiting beliefs that aren’t serving you and how to start building new empowering beliefs that will make it easier for you to achieve your goals and become your best self.
You have beliefs that are conditioned and programmed within you due to past events that occurred in your life. You carry these beliefs on a subconscious level and most of the time, you are completely unaware of them.
These beliefs really impact your life because the subconscious mind controls about 95% of all your decisions and actions throughout the day. Think about that for a second, that is huge.
If 95% of all your actions are being determined on a subconscious level, then it is extremely important for you to make sure that your deeper beliefs are ones that are serving you and not holding you back.
Some of your beliefs are good for you, but some are limiting. Beliefs such as the ones telling you that you’re not good enough, that you aren’t capable of achieving something, or you can’t do certain things because you aren’t the type etc. They are beliefs that just hold you back.
To learn to reprogram your subconscious mind you also need to first understand what the conscious mind does.
Your conscious mind is the guardian that either lets the information you encounter on a day to day basis go through to the subconscious mind or rejects it at will.
It determines what it will accept or reject based on your current subconscious beliefs.
This is in a way a good thing because it allows you to not just be influenced by every single belief or opinion that you come across.
But it can be damaging if you have accepted limiting beliefs throughout your childhood and now when someone tells you that it is possible for you to achieve your dreams, deep down within, you automatically reject that possiblity.
This is why the two most powerful times to reprogram your subconscious mind are when the conscious mind is in a restful state and right before you sleep. During these times your conscious mind is not interrupting and budding in.
So the two times of the day that we are going to use to reprogram your subconscious mind are the twenty minutes right after you wake up in the morning, and the twenty minutes right before you go to bed at night.
If twenty minutes seems like a lot, you can start with 5 or 10 but eventually you want to start doing 20, maybe even 30.
During these times you need to do three things.
- Affirmations: Empowering statements that embody what you want to achieve. For example, if you want to make a 100k this year, your affirmation might be, “My personal income for this year is a 100k.” Recite it with feeling and faith(I cannot stress this enough). You can make up your own affirmations or download my Most Powerful Affirmations Guide. This guide is full of affirmations that I have personally found to be the most powerful. - Visualization: The idea is the same as affirmations, but instead of reciting statements you have to envision your future. Step into the shoes of your future self and create a clear picture of what you future looks and feels like after you have accomplished what you currently want to achieve. Again, it will only hold any meaning if it is done with feeling and faith.
- Meditation: Allows you to detach from your thoughts and experience the presence that exists behind the your thoughts. Allows you to step into the role of the observer and realize that you are not your thoughts. And it enables you to slow down the mental chatter that is going on and become grounded in the present moment.
When you are doing these 3 things in the morning, you allow yourself to accept these new thoughts and beliefs that you have affirmed and visualized.
And when you do these right before bed at night, you seal your instructions to the subconscious mind for what you want to attract or manifest in your life.
And then as you sleep for 7/8 hours, your subconscious mind is working and attracting to you whatever instructions you have given it.
In addition to these 3 practices I want to give you two bonus tips which will also help you let go of old limiting beliefs.
–The past does not define you. What happened in your past is one possible past that you could have had and you don’t have to identify with it. Start to look at the past as you look at the future. Anything is possible in the future. Well anything was also possible in the past. Yes a certain script has been played out and you know which one of the possibilities already happened in your past but know that you don’t have to identify with it. Once you start to let go of your past, you will gain more power to create the future that you want.
–Understand that the future you visualize is a possibility that exists. Anything that you visualize and have a desire for is a possible reality that exists for you. Start to look at your desired future with a certain level of expectancy. “Determine resolutely to expect only what you want, then you will attract only what you wish for.”
