How To Be Free From Desire – Vedanta Philosophy
The mind’s continuous anticipation of pain or pleasure is the root cause of restlessness, fear, and anxiety.
This restlessness in the mind keeps the attention attached to objects of desire, which creates suffering and a complete denial of the present moment.
It keeps you chasing and living for experiences.
Notice how your entire life revolves around the chase for experiences.
The mind promises you that the happiness and peace reside within experiences. But if you honestly reflect over your past, you can clearly see that experiences offer no more than a glimpse of the true happiness and peace that you seek.
In truth, fulfilling your desire for experiences only breeds more desires to be fulfilled. On the other hand, relinquishing your attachment to desire, frees you of being a puppet to them.
It reveals to you the happiness of being.
You can dissolve this restlessness only when you learn to allow desire to be without feeling compelled to follow and satisfy it.
And that is what I’d like to share with you today. How to be free from desire without suppressing it or suffering from it.
